Bowhead Whale, Mandible

The very large mandible bones had to be painted after the rest of the skeleton had already been moved into the lobby. It was not possible to paint them near the skeleton. Instead, I used small bone fragments that were similar in color to the skull and made many trips up the stairs to observe. In this photo, you can see that I had some help carrying the unwieldy bone up the stairs for a face-to-face comparison.
